For the first time in 2 years. The United Racing Club made the end of summer trek down the shore to the beautiful Georgetown Speedway. The wait was well worth it as 17 URC 360 Sprint Cars rolled into the southern Delaware track. A wild turn of events would see Josh Weller of Mertztown,PA take his series leading 3rd win of the season
On the initial start. A slow pace was set by Jt Ferry and Troy Betts on the front row. Off of turn 4 Betts would slide Ferry and lead lap number 1. The top 3 would break away. Behind them a great battle between Robbie Stillwaggon and Ken Meisner. While that battle was going on. Lititz,Pa Randy Wilbert would spin and come to a stop and make contact with Anthony Fascone Jr. Wilbert Would resume. Fascone’s night would come to an end with front end damage.
On the restart Ferry would bobble and lose ground on Betts. While Tyler Ross would find his way around Josh Weller for the 3rd spot. Ross and Weller would go at each other as Weller would pinch Ross off of 2 and then Ross would try to retaliate and lose a bunch of ground off of turn 4. With about ten to go Betts would start to get into lap traffic and it seemed to upset the car as Ferry and Weller would close the gap on Betts. Weller would pull a slide job on Ferry. Ferry was ready for it and crossed Weller over for the next lap with Weller taking second. Ferry would pull off as Ross would get around him. And then calamity ensues.
Weller closed in on Betts. While entering turn 3 Weller and Betts made contact and Betts went down low and Weller tried to go high. Betts spun around and as he was climbing back up the race track Tyler Ross had nowhere to go as he and Betts made contact sending Ross cartwheeling over the banking in turn 3 and 4. Ross would walk away uninjured. Betts would continue.
The restart would come. Weller would take the lead away from Ken Mesiner and not look back as he would run away and take his 3rd feature win of the season with Mesiner finishing second, Andy Best Robbie Stilwaggon and Kyle Spence would round out the top 5. Troy Betts penalized for jumping the restart and then he would go after Weller on the track and would be DQ by officials
“I assume Troy saw my nose. I tried to check up and he was busy trying to block me.” Josh Weller said in victory lane. “I don't want it to be that way but we’ll take the win and head on to Bridgeport. I really wish I wasn't in the situation we are in but we’re out here on the front stretch.”

The United Racing Club caps of the 2024 season on Saturday September 21st at the Bridgeport Motorsports Park.
