CONFIDENCE BABY!: Tyler Reeser gets his confidence back in a big way with late race win at Selinsgrove!

Over a month ago Tyler Reeser was without a ride and unsure of his 2023 plans. A phone call and a good recommendation from Kyle Reinhardt. Reeser has found himself in victory lane in a sprint car since 2018 at Port Royal with his first ever United Racing Club 360 sprint car win at Selinsgrove. Reeser’s momentum continues to build since he and Bob Lilick hooked up last month with a second place run at Big Diamond. Reeser would start the night off with a heat race win and bring the field to the green on the outside of the front row alongside Mathew Swift.

Reeser would take the lead off the initial green flag and lead lap number 1. Before Brady Dillion could not park in turn 1 and bring out the first yellow of the night. On the restart Reeser had Derek Hauck on the outside of him. The top 2 would not change the rest of the night. Reeser went and pulled away from the field and was just getting into lap traffic before the caution would come out for Brian Nornhold coming to a stop and calling it a night. Reeser and Hauck would pull away from 3rd running Josh Weller when the next caution would come out for TJ Stutts going around and being tapped by Swift with 17 laps to go. Both Swift and Stutts would continue in the feature. The 3rd restart would not last long as Jake Karklin got the right rear packed with mud and pulled to a stop to bring out the 4th caution of the feature with just 9 laps in the books. That would be the final caution of the night as the race would be on from there.

The battle on the restart would be between current points leader Josh Weller, Jason Shultz and Adam Carberry. Carberry would pull away for the moment. But Weller and Shultz would battle for the 4th spot until lap traffic came into the picture. “ Got kind of screwed up on the double file restart on the bottom. But good racing with both Adam ( Carberry) and Jason ( Shultz).” Weller said after the race. “ Its nice running around guys who you know aren't going to wreck you. Cars in the trailer in one piece and didn't burn every tire off the car. We’ll take it because usually the result at Selinsgrove isn't that great for us loading the car in one piece.” Weller would come home with a 3rd place run after a late race battle with Shultz.

Meanwhile up in the front. Reeser and Hauck’s battle was heating up as they hit lap traffic. Reeser would kiss the inside wall in one and two and then Hauck would nearly hit the outside wall in 3 and 4. But Hauck kept his momentum up and was able to chase Reeser back down with 6 laps to go when Reeser tried to pull a slider on lap car Kyle Keen and lost all his momentum and allowed Hauck to pass Reeser down the back straight and clear Reeser off of turn four to take the lead with 5 laps to go. “ It was nice to race with (Tyler) Reeser.” Derek Hauck said post race” He races clean. I didn't have much for him when he was in clean air. I tried to run the top and the car got a little tight. This is the second time out with this car. We came back with a little different set up and didn't really change much all night. To come out of here with a top three on a track you could run top, middle and bottom, and try again.”

Reeser would get a run off of turn number 4 and clear Hauck with a slider off of turn 2 to take the lead for good and earn his first URC Win over Hauck. “ Selinsgrove hands down had an awesome track tonight.” Reeser stated. “ Hats off to Hauck he ran a great race as well. It felt like the first half took forever to get done. But when we got going he slid me on a restart and I barely got around him on the top. But hats off to my crew, and Bob ( Lilick ) on a great car tonight. Got to keep this confidence up because how much harder you drive the car when your confidence is high is insane. Keep this confidence going and maybe put this 7 car in victory lane at Port Royal.”
Weller would end up in the 3rd spot, Shultz 4th and Mark Smith rounding out the top 5. Hayden Miller would get hard charger coming from 26th to 16th.

Next URC event will be at the Port Royal Speedway on Monday July 3rd alongside the 410 Sprint Cars final night of Pennsylvania Speedweek and will be live on FLO Racing.
