Mark Smith Simply Unstoppable at Selinsgrove
Mark Smith visited Victory Lane for the 4th time at Selinsgrove and the 3rd time this year with the United Racing Club. Smith who started in the 5th spot needed just 13 laps to take control of the race and go onto the win.
A field of 28 URC Sprints assembled for the 2nd night of the 2 night weekend. Heat races were won by Robbie Stillwaggon, Jason Schultz, and Ryan Kissinger and the Consolation race was won by Curt Michael just one day after winning an exciting feature at Williams Grove Speedway.
After Stillwaggon drew the 0 invert number the feature line up was determined by the heads up start from the heat races. Jason Schultz and Robbie Stillwaggon lead the field to the green flag. Schultz quickly jumped out into the lead with 23 URC sprinters closely following the 29 car. Mark Smith was on a mission marching from his 5th starting spot to take the lead on lap 13 only to have the red flag displayed for an incident involving Mallie Shuster who went out over the turn 1-2 way. Although the 49 car was completely destroyed Shuster walked away unharmed.
Before the field could get back in order a freak incident involving the 5g of Curt Michael hitting the starters cone on the front stretch ripped the brake line from the 5g. Michael was retired for the night. On the restart nothing was going to prevent the 1M of Mark Smith to take the lead from Jason Schultz. Smith would go on to lead the last 1/2 of the race. Following Smith across the checkers was TJ Stutts from the 9th starting position, Jason Schultz, Robbie Stillwaggon and Ryan Kissinger rounding out the top 5.
URC's is next in action at the Brett Deyo promoted Dirty Jersey 3 on Thursday night June 11th at the New Egypt Speedway.
