Franek Now Perfect on 2016 URC Points Tour

Davie "No Panic" Franek returned to his old stomping grounds and picked up his 2nd win of the 2016 URC Season. Franek who also won at the opening night of the 2016 URC Racing season at Bridgeport Speedway has now surpassed his 2015 win total and increased his points lead.

With 18 United Racing Club Sprint cars in the pits, the fans saw 2 exciting heat races with Jason Clauss and Ed Aikin picking up the heat wins. Clauss drew the "0" pill for the invert and was rewarded with the P1 starting position for the night. A lap 1 caution for a spinning Scott Flammer sent the colorful 37 to the rear of the field. At the restart Ed Aikin in the Scott McClelland owned 21 bolted to the lead with Jason Clauss now following. A scary crash on lap 5 ended the night of Jason Clauss while sending the 747 of Davey Sammons to the pits for a new right rear. The 5g of Curt Michael and 89 of Robbie Stillwaggon barely missed the crash while Stillwaggon completed a 360 while avoiding the crash. Sammons and the 747 returned before the green waived again.

At the restart Robbie Stillwaggon picked off the 5G of Curt Michael and set his sights on the 28f of Davie Franek and leader Ed Aikin. With Aikin in heavy lapped traffic and a blanket covering the top 4, it was only a matter of time before something gave. Going into turn 1, Aikin and the 21 car battled lapped traffic, while Aikin went high, Franek and the 28f went low and come out with the lead. Franek lead the final laps with Aikin crossing the finish line in 2nd. Rounding out the top 5 was the 5G of Curt Michael, 89 of Robbie Stillwaggon and the 56 of Randy West.

The United Racing Club will now head to Williams Grove Speedway on Friday night April 29th. Race time is 8pm at the Grove. On Saturday the teams will have just enough time to get the cars washed before they are off to Selinsgrove Speedway and the Jack Gunn Memorial Race.
