YORK HAVEN, PA - The Capitol Renegade United Racing Club will be heading to York Haven, Pennsylvania to compete at BAPS Motor Speedway for the Capital Renegade Showdown on June 13, 2019. This will be the first trip of 2019 to BAPS, a speedway that the club has not visited since 2016.
On August 13, 2016, Josh Weller captured the win after starting from the fourth position followed by Davie Franek, and Robbie Stillwaggon. Weller heads into Thursday night second in the championship standings, 65 points behind current leader Chad Layton. Curt Michael who currently sits third in points will be eyeing a podium finish as well in order to close the gap potentially putting himself in a position to claim an eleventh championship.
Rookie competitor Austin Bishop will be looking to bounce back from his unfortunate wreck at Lincoln, while URC Regulars Ryan Stillwaggon and Ryan Quackenbush will attempt to continue their string of strong showings with the club.
This race will definitely be one to watch as competitors such as Ryan Smith in the 72, and Kyle Reinhardt in the 1W, both past winners this season at Port Royal and Selinsgrove respectfully, plan on attending; Derek Locke (77), Steve Buckwalter (7), and David Quackenbush (91) are also expected to be among the field.
The off season brought many improvements to the BAPS Motor Speedway, these changes are sure to appeal to racers and fans alike. Safety updates such as a sturdy 1 ton steel gate has been installed at the turn 1 exit, as well as new lighting being placed on the front stretch and around the facility are some of the highly noticeable changes that were made.
Rumor has it that a storm is coming to town as the AMSOIL USAC National Sprint cars invade the east coast and join the URC on the card for the Capitol Renegade Showdown. This will be the third race out of five in USAC’s 6 day stint on the east coast.
