Shultz Parks it in Victory Lane at Williams Grove Speedway

MECHANICSBURG, PA – Jason Shultz notched his second Capitol Renegade United Racing Club victory of 2019 at William’s Grove Speedway on Firday night, July 12, 2019.

Shultz faced a stacked field as 24 cars signed in to participate in the night’s events, including some heavy hitters running double duty with their 410’s such as Freddie Rahmer, Lucas Wolfe, and Steve Buckwalter. Shultz redrew second for the main event but would find himself starting to the outside of Buckwalter who seems to always have a solid night when participating with URC. Buckwalter jumped out the early lead picking his way through lapped traffic with ease however Shultz remained within striking distance.

The only incident of the night came on lap 9 when Ryan Watt spun in turns 3 and 4 collecting current URC point leader, Chad Layton, as well as sending Derek Locke on his roof. All drivers were alright and after the cleanup was complete, Watt and Locke would retire to the pits with Layton able to refire and join the tail end of the field.

There were several battles all around the track, but all eyes were on position number one as Shultz was able to get by Buckwalter with seven laps to go. Shultz never looked back and found himself parked in victory lane at the end of the night followed by Buckwalter, Wolfe, Josh Weller, and Rahmer. Shultz said it was an unconventional win for him as “usually I run where Steve was running and he runs where I was” but it seemed to work out in the end as Shultz scored his first win in 360 competition at William’s Grove. Shultz would like to thank his family, crew, and sponsors including: Weis Markets, Horst Craft, Weather Proof Roofing, Hoover’s produce, Mill works, and the Lauver brother’s.

Mark Smith was having a solid run within the top five when something appeared to break within the last two laps causing him to fall in the running order. Shultz, Smith, and Buckwalter were credited with heat race wins.

The KSE Hard Charger award this week went to Kyle Reinhardt who continues to shine in his no 1W machine. Reinhardt came from the 14th starting position and made his way up to finish sixth.

The Club will continue it’s 2019 season next week, July 20, at Grandview Speedway as we honor URC’s first “Living Legend”, Glenn Fitzcharles who is currently the most winningest driver in URC history. Going into this race, Chad Layton continues to lead points by 107 points over Josh Weller in second, and Curt Michael in third.
